Rules of the Road Speed Limit The speed limit on Mississippi interstate highways is 70 mph, unless otherwise posted. The

speed limit is 65 mph on other four-lane highways and 55 mph on two-lane highways, unless

otherwise posted.

Motorcycle/Motor Scooter Crash helmets must meet approval of the American Association of Motor Vehicle

Administrators. They are required to be used on public roads and highways.

Mandatory Seat Belt Laws Driver and front-seat passengers must wear seat belts; children ages 4 through 7 must wear seat

belts anywhere in the vehicle. Children under 4 must be restrained in a suitable car seat.

Regulations on the Natchez Trace Parkway The speed limit on the Natchez Trace Parkway is 50 mph, unless otherwise posted. Hauling

and commercial trucking are not allowed along the historic thoroughfare. Charter buses may
